  • Does it hurt? The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so you won't feel pain during treatment. Post-procedure discomfort is typically mild and manageable with over-the-counter pain relievers.
  • Results: Immediate pain relief. Full healing takes 2-4 weeks for standard removal, 4-6 weeks for permanent correction.

FAQS ABOUT INGROWN TOENAIL TREATMENT

Q. What causes an ingrown toenail?

An ingrown toenail develops when the edge or corner of the nail grows into the surrounding skin. Common contributing factors include trimming the nail too short or rounded at the corners, shoes that press on the toes, an injury to the toe, and inherited nail shape.

Q. When should an ingrown toenail be looked at by a podiatrist?

It is reasonable to be seen when the toe is painful, red, swollen, draining, or keeps coming back after home care. Anyone with diabetes, neuropathy, or circulation problems should have an ingrown toenail evaluated rather than treated at home.

Q. Do you offer routine nail trimming?

While we do treat ingrown toenails, we do not offer regular diabetic or nondiabetic nail cutting services.

Q. Do you accept insurance for ingrown toenail treatment?

We accept most major insurance plans, and the plans we accept are listed on our insurance page. For cash paying patients, please contact the office for pricing.
