Driving south from Circleville on US-23

Leave Circleville heading south on US-23 and the road does most of the work. This is the Columbus-to-Portsmouth corridor, four lanes and divided, and the stretch below Circleville is open Pickaway County farm country in the Scioto valley — about thirteen miles of it before you cross the Ross County line, with Kingston off to the east on the way down.

Here is where the Circleville drive differs from every other approach to our office: you do not need the bypass. Rather than staying on US-23 as it curves around the east side of Chillicothe, take the exit signed for Bridge Street and US-23 Business at the north edge of the city. That puts you on North Bridge Street, which is also SR-159.

Follow North Bridge Street south for roughly two and a half miles. It runs straight through Chillicothe's north-end retail strip — the shopping plazas and big-box parking lots on either side are the landmark. Before you reach the US-35 overpass, North Plaza Boulevard is a right turn, and the office is a fifth of a mile along it. If you find yourself crossing over the highway, you have gone one block too far.

That drive time was read from Google Maps on 5 August 2026, using 37 N Plaza Blvd as the destination. It is approximate and will change with traffic, weather and road work — Maps currently flags road work on N Plaza Blvd itself, so allow a few extra minutes at the end of the trip.

Circleville and Pickaway County

Circleville is the seat of Pickaway County — the county directly north of ours — and with a 2020 census population of 13,927 it is by some distance the largest town on our service-area list. It sits on the Scioto River about 22 miles north of Chillicothe and about 25 miles south of Columbus, which means many Circleville residents already choose between driving north to the city and south into Ross County for appointments.

The name is a piece of local archaeology. When the town was laid out in 1810 its streets were built as concentric circles inside a Hopewell earthwork roughly 1,100 feet across. The circular plan was squared off into an ordinary grid between 1837 and 1856, and the earthwork was lost in the process, but the name stayed.

One scheduling note worth knowing: the Circleville Pumpkin Show has run every year since 1903, from the third Wednesday of October through that Saturday, and attendance has topped 400,000. If your appointment lands in that week, leave yourself extra time simply getting out of town.
